ABOUT US
Triveni Samaj Vikas Kendra is a community-based organization working for the rights, health, dignity, and empowerment of Transgender, Gender Diverse, and Hijra communities in Mumbai.
Founded in 2006, Triveni Samaj has been actively serving the transgender population in the Malad and Malwani areas, addressing long-standing issues of discrimination, lack of healthcare access, social exclusion, and limited awareness of human rights.
Our work is driven by the belief that every transgender individual is valuable, powerful, and deserving of equality.
Our Journey
Triveni Samaj began its journey in collaboration with the Family Health Association of India under the BMGF-supported Aastha Project, focusing on HIV prevention, STI awareness, and community outreach.
Following the successful completion of the Aastha Project, Triveni Samaj was recognized and awarded MDACS Targeted Intervention (TI) for its impactful grassroots work.
Today, we continue to work closely with Aastha Parivaar, a federation of Community-Based Organizations formed under the Aastha Project across Mumbai and Thane districts, strengthening organizational development and community leadership.
Understanding the Need
During our years of fieldwork, we observed that very few cases of crisis, violence, or rights violations were being reported within the transgender community.
The primary reasons included:
Lack of awareness about human and legal rights
Fear of stigma and retaliation
Limited access to support systems and information
Recognizing this gap, Triveni Samaj expanded its focus beyond healthcare to include rights awareness, advocacy, counselling, and community empowerment.
Our Vision
To build a society where transgender individuals live with dignity, equality, health, and economic security.
Our Mission
To support positive change in the lives of socially and economically marginalized transgender communities by building strong partnerships based on transparency, sensitivity, and sustainable development.
